Notaries public in New Brunswick
Each one's notarial appointment is confirmed against their regulator's own public register.
What a notary does depends on the province. In British Columbia a notary public is a separately licensed profession handling property transfers, wills and powers of attorney, licensed by the Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia. In Quebec a notaire is a full legal profession under the Chambre des notaires du Québec, with sole responsibility for certain transactions. Everywhere else in Canada, notarising a document is something lawyers and commissioners do rather than a profession of its own.
