Legal accountants in Ontario
Each one's accounting designation is confirmed against their regulator's own public register.
A legal accountant looks after the money side of running a law firm: the trust account, the annual trust report the law society asks for, and the firm's own books. Trust accounting follows rules that a general bookkeeper is not trained in, and breaking them is a regulatory problem rather than only a financial one. Accountants are regulated province by province under the Chartered Professional Accountant designation, so each province's own body keeps the list of its members.
