An immigration consultant advises people on applications to come to Canada, to stay here, or to become a citizen, and can deal with the immigration authorities on their behalf. Consultants are licensed nationally by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, which keeps a public register. Only a licensed consultant or a lawyer may charge a fee for this advice.
